How this tool works
Calculating annual salary takes more than multiplying a monthly amount by twelve. You need to know whether holiday allowance, a thirteenth month and other guaranteed payments are already included. This annual income calculator separates regular pay from additional payments. It shows basic annual salary and gross annual income including entered extras, alongside an estimated net total for 2026.
Start with the period shown in your employment contract. Monthly payroll has twelve regular payments per year. A four-week contract has thirteen periods; multiplying by twelve would miss a whole pay period. If you already have an annual amount, select year as the input period. The output then shows the corresponding average monthly, weekly and hourly amounts.
Only select that 8% holiday allowance is included when this follows from your remuneration agreement. The calculator then splits the amount by dividing by 1.08. Otherwise 8% is added to regular basic pay. A full year at €3,500 gross per month produces €3,360 holiday allowance in addition to €42,000 regular salary. An allowance already included is never added a second time.
A thirteenth month here means one extra calendar monthly salary based on annual pay excluding holiday allowance. Even with four-week payroll, this is annual basic pay divided by twelve. If your arrangement differs, leave the thirteenth-month option off and enter the correct amount as a fixed bonus. A percentage year-end allowance uses basic annual pay; avoid counting one payment twice because your contract describes it in two ways.
The net annual figure applies monthly or four-week tax tables to regular salary. Additional holiday pay and bonuses use the special-payment rate. Its annual wage basis usually appears on your payslip. If you leave it at zero, the tool explicitly estimates that basis from calculated annual income. Annual income-tax assessment can differ because of other income, deductions or changes during the year.
Use total remuneration to compare offers and keep the breakdown alongside your contract. Dutch benefits use assessment income; mortgage lenders decide which fixed and variable earnings they accept. The gross annual income calculated here does not replace those assessments. The free PDF and table provide an auditable calculation from your own entries and a practical starting point for discussing your income with an employer, adviser or lender.
Calculate gross annual income
Annual income = regular annual pay + additional holiday allowance + bonus
Included holiday allowance remains within regular pay. Only additional holiday allowance is added.
Annual to monthly salary
Regular monthly salary = regular annual pay ÷ 12
Do not simply divide the total package by twelve when bonuses and holiday allowance are paid at separate times.
Limits of this tool
Gross annual income ≠ assessed benefits income
The estimate assumes a full year under the same reference-date circumstances, excluding other income and personal deductions.
Common questions
Does holiday pay count towards annual salary?
It contributes to total gross income. The tool separates basic pay and holiday allowance to prevent double counting.
How do I convert four-week pay to annual salary?
Multiply regular four-week pay by thirteen. Add only additional payments not already included.
Is a thirteenth month always one four-week payment?
No. Here it is one calendar monthly salary. Enter a fixed bonus when your agreement specifies another amount.
What is my annual income for Dutch benefits?
It is not automatically this amount. Assessment income also depends on other income and tax deductions; check with the Tax Administration.
Why can net annual income differ from my tax return?
Payroll withholding is an advance. Personal deductions, multiple jobs and changes within the year can affect the final assessment.
